Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, a governorship aspirant in Gombe State, has officially submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday at Treasure Suites, Abuja, Gwamna stated that his candidacy is built on a commitment to sustain and expand the developmental achievements of the current administration.
Commitment to Consolidation
Gwamna noted that his primary motivation for seeking the state’s highest office is to ensure that the progress recorded under the incumbent leadership is not lost. He praised the current governor for raising the state’s development profile and setting a high standard for governance.
”Currently, the governor we have has put Gombe State on a new pedestal in terms of development. We are very proud of what he has achieved,” Gwamna said. “It is a big challenge to sustain that developmental stride and continue with it. I hope that, given the chance, I will build on what he has done.”
Party Loyalty and Process
Addressing questions regarding the internal party selection process, Gwamna expressed full confidence in the party leadership. He signaled his readiness to accept the outcome of any transparent primary or internal arrangement.
”Whatever the party decides,” he remarked, emphasizing his alignment with the party’s ultimate decision-making structure.
Expanding Field of Aspirants
With the formal submission of his forms, Dr. Gwamna joins a growing field of contenders vying for the governorship seat. His entry marks an intensification of political activities in Gombe State as the 2027 election cycle approaches.
Gwamna concluded by acknowledging the legacy of past Gombe leaders, describing the state as “very lucky” to have historically benefited from dedicated leadership.
