FRSC Returns ₦1.12m Recovered From Fatal Crash Scene To Victim’s Family

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has handed over the sum of ₦1,120,000 recovered from the scene of a fatal crash to the family of the deceased, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

According to a statement by Osondu Ohaeri, Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, the crash occurred on April 11, 2026, at Idu Village along the Gegu–Abaji route. It involved a Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. GWP418CV) and a Volkswagen Golf (Reg. No. RBC220DG).

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Mallam Aliyu Mohammed Bala, sustained critical injuries and was later confirmed dead at the hospital despite efforts to save him.

Ohaeri stated that during the rescue operation carried out by the FRSC Zebra Team, the sum of ₦1,120,000, along with other personal belongings, was recovered and properly documented in line with standard procedures.

At a formal event held on April 20, 2026, at the Command, the Corps handed over the recovered money to the deceased’s family.

The victim’s elder brother, Mr. Bala Yakubu, received the sum on behalf of the family in the presence of witnesses, including N. Yusuf and Aminu Mahmud Maku.

The handover was conducted by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander RC Ojonugwa E. Ejah, alongside other senior officials of the Command.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the gesture as a demonstration of the Corps’ commitment to accountability and ethical conduct.

He also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
