Army Chief Commissions Abuja Provost Complex, Reaffirms Commitment To Military Discipline
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strict discipline and professional conduct, describing both as the bedrock of operational effectiveness.
Gen. Shaibu made the remark on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, during the official commissioning of the Army Headquarters Provost Group Complex in Abuja. He noted that strengthening institutional discipline and military policing remains a central focus of his leadership.
”Discipline is the soul of any fighting force,” Gen. Shaibu stated. “This office complex will enhance the capacity of the Army Headquarters Provost Group to enforce standards, promote professionalism, and ensure that personnel conduct themselves in line with the core values of the Nigerian Army at all times.”
The newly inaugurated facility features 14 office spaces, a conference hall, a quarter guard, a car park, and a generator house. According to the COAS, the modern structure is designed to create a conducive working environment that will streamline command and control, administrative processes, and military security operations across the service.
Gen. Shaibu highlighted that the completion of the project reflects the Nigerian Army’s prudent resource management and dedication to infrastructure that supports both operational efficiency and personnel welfare. He commended the Directorate of Procurement for delivering the facility within the approved timeframe and in adherence to specified quality standards.
Charging officers and soldiers of the Provost Group to properly maintain the infrastructure, the Army Chief urged personnel to treat public assets as a collective responsibility for the benefit of future generations.
He added that the Army will continue investing in essential infrastructure—including housing, healthcare, education, and welfare initiatives—to boost troop morale, reinforce discipline, and sustain high standards of professionalism across all ranks.
