APC Sets Up Fact-Finding Committee to Resolve Anambra Crisis, Warns Members Against Court Actions
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) has established a five-member Fact-Finding and Reconciliation Committee to investigate and resolve ongoing internal disputes within its Anambra State chapter.
The committee’s chairman, Dr. Benjamin Nwoye APC Deputy National Chairman (South) disclosed the development during a news conference at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja following an emergency meeting of the party leadership.
Dr. Nwoye stated that the committee’s mandate includes identifying the root causes of the crisis, engaging key stakeholders, and restoring peace so that the party’s candidates can participate freely in upcoming elections.
The panel consists of five party officials:
Dr. Benjamin Nwoye – Chairman (Deputy National Chairman, South)
Dr. Mary – Member (National Women Leader)
National Legal Adviser – Member
National Leader of Persons with Disabilities – Member
Deputy National Secretary – Secretary
Addressing recent legal disputes, Dr. Nwoye confirmed that the party’s legal department, through the Office of the National Legal Adviser, filed formal processes after learning of a court order regarding the Anambra crisis.
He revealed that the court issuing the order has stayed its enforcement.
Dr. Nwoye urged all aggrieved factions to hold their peace and cautioned members against bypassing internal conflict resolution channels.
”Under our party constitution, you don’t go to court until you exhaust all the remedies available within,” Nwoye warned, adding that under party rules, initiating court proceedings before exhausting internal dispute mechanisms carries serious consequences, including self-expulsion.
Next Steps and Peacebuilding Efforts
The committee plans to conduct peacebuilding meetings in both Abuja and Awka, the Anambra State capital, to consult directly with stakeholders and local party members.
In addition to stakeholder outreach, Dr. Nwoye noted that letters are being dispatched to relevant security agencies in Anambra State to protect party properties, including the state secretariat, and maintain overall law and order during the reconciliation process.
