Hon. Toyin Olusasa, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, has issued an urgent appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and national party leadership to intervene in a growing internal crisis threatening the party’s stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking this afternoon, the former Supervisory Councilor and Youth Leader of Ilorin West Local Government expressed deep concern over the leadership style of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Olusasa claimed that the “Otoge” movement—the political coalition that swept the APC into power in Kwara—is being systematically dismantled.
Concerns Over Party “Exodus”
Olusasa highlighted a worrying trend of “Otoge” gladiators and stakeholders exiting the party, alleging that they are being forced out by the current administration’s approach to governance and party management.
”As I stand before you, most of the leaders and stakeholders of the Otoge movement have been exited from the party,” Olusasa stated. “Because of the way our governor is handling the party, it is creating a vacuum. We need more people to win, not to be chasing them out.”
A Plea for Peace and Unity
While reaffirming his commitment to the APC and the 2027 re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Olusasa warned that the Governor’s actions are inadvertently strengthening the opposition. He specifically called for an end to what he described as a campaign of “litigation and demolition” targeting prominent party members and state elites.
”He should stop all the litigation and demolition of buildings against prominent members of our party and other elites. These actions are affecting the fortunes of the party and creating unnecessary tension in the state.”
Looking Toward 2027
The Chieftain emphasized that the primary goal remains a clean sweep for the APC in 2027, from the Presidency down to the State House of Assembly. However, he maintained that this objective is only achievable if the President intervenes to reconcile the warring factions and ensures the Governor adopts a more inclusive leadership style.
”We want peace, and we want APC to win,” Olusasa concluded. “That is why we are seeking the intervention of our dear President and national party leaders to make the Governor reconsider his actions.”
