TDF Backs Tinubu’s Assessment Of Opposition, Urges Nigerians To Reject Opposition Parties In 2027

The Democratic Front (TDF) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s assessment of Nigeria’s opposition parties, describing them as lacking vision and viable alternatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group accused opposition leaders of persistently criticising the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration without offering workable solutions.

According to TDF, the opposition has developed a tendency to exaggerate political and economic challenges in the country, allegedly relying on fabricated or non existent data to support its narratives.

The group argued that opposition parties continue to compare economic indicators from the pre subsidy era with those recorded after the Tinubu administration’s reforms, while lacking clear strategies for creating an investment driven economy capable of delivering sustainable prosperity.

TDF also faulted allegations that the President and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were pursuing a one party state agenda by weakening opposition parties. It described the claims as “laughable and unbelievable,” insisting that there was no evidence of any attempt to shrink Nigeria’s democratic space.

The group further cited the tenure of former Senate President David Mark, alleging that he championed constitutional amendments that enabled the deregistration of political parties, which it said was aimed at limiting opposition influence during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
Commenting on recent opposition coalition efforts, TDF said the rise and fall of the Atiku Obi coalition had reinforced public doubts about the democratic credentials of some opposition figures.

The statement claimed that both the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and National Democratic Coalition (NDC) presidential candidates were caught in what it described as “cognitive dissonance” regarding the democratic values they profess.

The group urged Nigerians to reject the opposition and its parties at the polls and support President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.
