INEC Announces Final Phase Of Nationwide Voter Registration Starting May 11

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will begin on Monday, May 11, 2026, and end on Friday, July 10, 2026.

In a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the Commission explained that the second phase of the exercise was suspended on April 17, 2026. This pause, he said, allowed INEC to clean up the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.

Haruna urged eligible citizens who have turned 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration phases, to take advantage of the final window to register.

He also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to visit INEC offices at the state and local government levels or use the Commission’s online portal.

INEC further disclosed that the voter register will be displayed for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026. The exercise is intended to allow citizens to verify entries and help ensure the accuracy and credibility of the register.

The Commission assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth process, calling on citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral system.
