Eid-el-Kabir: FRSC Corps Marshal Urges Safe Driving, Calls For Crash Free Celebration

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging road users to celebrate responsibly to ensure a crash free festive period.

In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the Corps Marshal commended the Muslim Ummah for their devotion, sacrifice, discipline, and commitment to the teachings of Islam.

He urged the faithful to sustain the virtues of patience, obedience, love, and peaceful coexistence, which he described as central to the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir.

According to Mohammed, the essence of the celebration symbolising sacrifice, submission, and compassion for humanity also reflects the values required for safety and orderliness on the nation’s highways.

He noted that many road traffic crashes are avoidable when road users exercise patience, caution, and respect for traffic regulations.

The FRSC boss therefore appealed to motorists, passengers, pedestrians, and other road users to avoid speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, drunk driving, route violations, and other unsafe practices capable of endangering lives and property.

While wishing Muslims a peaceful, joyous, and crash free Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Mohammed reaffirmed the commitment of the FRSC to safer roads through intensified patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, prompt rescue services, and sustained collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

He also urged members of the public to support the Corps by reporting crashes, road obstructions, and emergencies through the FRSC toll free emergency number, 122, and the National Traffic Radio platform on 107.1FM to enable quick response and lifesaving interventions.

The Corps Marshal further encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to promote unity, tolerance, national harmony, and collective responsibility towards building a safer road environment and a more peaceful society.
