FCTA Workers Begin 3-Day Protest Over Poor Working Conditions.

The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has followed through on its threat to embark on a three-day protest over what it described as the refusal of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to address longstanding issues affecting staff welfare and rights.

The union announced the protest last week, directing its members and affiliate bodies across the FCTA to mobilize and converge daily at the Minister’s Main Gate throughout the duration of the exercise.

On the first day, a large number of JUAC members gathered at the FCDA Secretariat, carrying placards bearing messages that reflected their grievances.

Addressing the protesters, JUAC President, Rifkatu Iortyer, expressed disappointment with the FCT Minister’s continued silence and apparent indifference to the union’s demands.

She reeled out some of their demands to include non-promotion of staff since 2023, unresolved salary structure and administration problems.

They warned that if their grievances are not addressed within the three-day window, they will escalate their actions and mobilize in full force to press home their demands.

End.
