Former Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture, Pharmacist, Uzama Tokunbo Yusuf, has officially submitted her Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to represent the Alimosho Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Speaking shortly after the submission in Abuja, Yusuf expressed her readiness for the upcoming party primaries, emphasizing that her candidacy is rooted in extensive consultation with party leadership and grassroots stakeholders.
Primary Focus and Strategy
Yusuf noted that the next phase of her campaign involves deepening her engagement with party members who hold the power to decide the candidate under the current electoral framework.
”We have submitted the forms and we are ready for the primary,” Yusuf stated. “I have consulted far and wide within the leadership and the party. I believe they are ready to support me to represent them at the Green Chamber.”
A Vision for Alimosho
Addressing the specific needs of her constituency, Yusuf highlighted that Alimosho remains one of the most populated areas in Nigeria and faces significant infrastructural and social gaps. She positioned herself as the bridge between the constituency’s needs and federal intervention.
Key points of her legislative agenda include:
Alignment with the Presidency: Yusuf pledged total support for the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, promising to facilitate legislative backing for executive policies that benefit the masses.
Constituency Advocacy: Addressing the “dire need” for developmental projects within the Alimosho local government area.
Party Loyalty: Ensuring that Alimosho remains a stronghold for the party and delivers maximum support for the federal administration.
Message to Constituents
In her closing remarks, the former commissioner urged her supporters to remain optimistic.
”My message is: let’s keep the hope alive. With the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda and the support of the good people of Alimosho Federal Constituency, you will never regret having me on board,” she said.
