Easter: NOA DG Urges Unity, Warns Against Terror Threats.

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerians to embrace the values of love, tolerance, and unity as they celebrate the Easter season.

In a statement, Issa-Onilu described Easter as a period of sacrifice, reconciliation, and renewed hope, urging citizens to reflect these virtues in their daily interactions, regardless of differences in faith, ethnicity, or political affiliation.

He noted that Nigeria is at a critical point in its history, emphasizing that the nation’s strength lies in its diversity and the shared commitment of its people to build a united and prosperous country.

The NOA boss, however, warned that terrorists and other criminal elements remain the greatest threat to national stability. He cautioned Nigerians against allowing such groups to achieve their aim of destabilising the country.

Issa-Onilu cited recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, during Ramadan, as well as the deadly assault on the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos on Palm Sunday, as stark reminders of the dangers posed by these groups.

He assured that the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to address insecurity, stating that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to deploying all necessary resources and strategies to achieve lasting peace across the country.

The DG appealed to Christians and Muslims to remain united in confronting these threats, stressing that terrorists and their sponsors are common enemies who must not be allowed to divide the population or disrupt Nigeria’s tradition of peaceful coexistence.

He also called on religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to promote messages of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, while urging the media and civil society organisations to actively counter hate speech and divisive narratives.

Issa-Onilu extended Easter greetings to Christians nationwide, expressing hope that the season would bring renewed healing, harmony, and hope to the country.
