Delta APC Leaders Demand Sobotie’s Suspension, Condemn Petition

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned a petition by the Delta State chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, calling for the removal of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka.

The petition, addressed to the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was dismissed by the majority of the Delta State Executive Committee (SEC) as “grossly misconceived, petty, and reckless.”

The leaders accused Sobotie of acting unilaterally without the SEC’s approval, insisting his actions were an abuse of office.

“Sobotie’s claims against Barr. Morka are baseless and contrived,” the statement read. The leaders described Morka as a “fine and distinguished Deltan” whose performance as National Publicity Secretary has been exemplary.

The petition against Morka alleged that he issued a clarification discrediting a controversial APC Leadership Council in Delta State — a body not recognized under the party’s constitution.

Sobotie further accused Morka of declaring Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the party’s leader in Delta State, a claim the SEC leaders said had no factual basis.

In a twist of event, the SEC members called for Sobotie’s immediate suspension, citing his alleged alignment with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and accusing him of undermining APC’s internal processes.

They also highlighted his failure to convene SEC meetings, describing his leadership as “dictatorial” and “an unmitigated disaster.”

The petitioners warned that Sobotie’s actions posed a serious threat to the APC’s stability in Delta State and urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to take decisive action.

“We have completely lost confidence in Sobotie’s leadership. His suspension is critical to preventing further damage to the party’s reputation and integrity,” the statement concluded.
