Three aspirants seeking to represent various constituencies in Adamawa State at the Federal House of Representatives have officially entered the race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The aspirants—Mas’ud Ibrahim Usman, Vrati Sahulama Nzonzo, and Haruna Daniel Tabwarakan—obtained their Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the party’s headquarters, signaling their readiness for the upcoming primary elections.
The trio is reportedly aligned with the political camp of AbdulRahman Haske, a leading Adamawa State governorship aspirant who recently picked his own forms.
Constituencies and Profiles
The aspirants represent a strategic spread across the state’s federal constituencies:
Mas’ud Ibrahim Usman: Seeking to represent Ganye, Jada, Toungo, and Mayo-Belwa. Born August 8, 1992, Usman stands out as a direct beneficiary of the party’s youth-focused concessions.
Vrati Sahulama Nzonzo: Vying for the Numan, Demsa, and Lamurde seat. Nzonzo was born on January 9, 1979.
Haruna Daniel Tabwarakan: Contesting for the Guyuk/Shelleng Federal Constituency.
He was born on October 14, 1973.
Focus on Youth Inclusion
Following the purchase of their forms, the aspirants praised the APC leadership for the practical implementation of the “Not Too Young To Run” Act.
They specifically highlighted the party’s policy of granting a 50% reduction in nomination fees for youth aspirants as a transformative step for Nigerian democracy.
One of the aspirants benefited from a 20 million Naira discount on the combined cost of the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
The group noted that such financial incentives are crucial in lowering the steep barriers that have traditionally hindered younger Nigerians from seeking elective office.
Strategic Implications
The entry of these aspirants is viewed by political observers as a move to foster a more inclusive environment within the Adamawa APC.
By bridging the gap between experienced politicians and younger newcomers, the party aims to build a formidable front ahead of the general elections.
The aspirants concluded by attributing the current progress to the sustained advocacy of the original proponents of the “Not Too Young To Run” bill, affirming that the APC’s commitment to youth inclusion will strengthen the party’s internal democracy.
