The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba,led other top personnel of the force to patrol the entire 163km stretch of the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
The Police boss was on ground to access the security challenges of the route and also supervise the operational deployment of officers drawn from the Police tactical squads to ensure the safety of travellers.
According to a signed statement by the Acting Force Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi,the IGP in the course of the patrol mapped out some salient and strategic points that were immediately fortified with the deployment of operatives drawn from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Forces (SF), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), the Special Tactical Squad (STS), as well as airwing operatives in charge of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Nigeria Police Force.
IGP Alkali equally visited Armed Forces and Police personnel deployed at Rijana to secure the Nigeria Railway Corporation technical crew undertaking repair works at the damaged train coaches to assess the level of work done.
He further assured that normalcy would once again be restored to the route while emphasising on the need for credible intelligence sharing with Law Enforcement Agencies for effective policing of all spaces.
