As governments at all levels adopt measures to curb the menace of corruption in Nigeria, some Christian women operating under the platform of Priests Peace and Justice Initiative have taken it upon themselves to mobilize other Nigerians in the fight against the cankerworm.
At a national summit in Abuja organized by the group with the theme, “The Christian Woman and the Fight Against Corruption” the convener, Ejiro Otive-Igbuzor indicated that the move was necessitated by their desire to complement government efforts towards ending corrupt practices through the use of scriptural verses.
Otive-Igbuzor who lamented that women in Nigeria suffer due to corruption, indicated the benefits that go with speaking against the menace.
The women also took out time to celebrate the international women’s day with placards bearing different inscriptions against all forms of gender inequality. Reacting to the recent rejection by the national assembly on the bill for inclusion of more women in governance, they described the lawmakers action as a great setback on the advocacy for gender equality in the country.
The women activists equally urged Nigerian authorities to break the bias by according them their rightful place in the society.
