Civil society organizations have made good their threat to stage a protest over the delay by President Buhari to assent to the electoral amendment bill.
As early as 8am on Tuesday, the popular unity fountain square Abuja was filled to capacity by civil society activists displaying various placards with inscriptions on why the president should as a matter of urgency sign the bill.
Taking turns to speak, the CSOs cited the importance of the bill describing it as the popular will of the people key to improving the integrity of the nation’s electoral process.
They further canvassed reasons why President ßuhari should treat the electoral amendment bill with the same urgency as the Petroleum industry act.
