A fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu against the Department of State Security Services, it’s Director General, and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice has been adjourned to February 28. Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court Abuja fixed the date to enable DSS and AGF to serve their motions on Kanu’s Lawyer. Through his team of lawyers led by Maxwell Opara, the Biafra agitator instituted the case on allegation bordering on rights violation and poor medical attention being given to him in the detention facility of the DSS. Briefing judiciary correspondents shortly after the court proceedings, Opara noted that in spite of the order of Justice Binta Nyako for Kanu to be given clothes and treated with dignity that DSS has refused to obey the order hence the need for the fundamental rights suit. In the suit the applicant is asking the court to direct DSS to immediately remove him from solitary confinement and stop further disturbing or interfering with his rights to dignity of human person as guaranteed under the Constitution.
