COVID-19: Nigeria Ends First Phase Of Vaccination — NPHCDA
The Federal Government has ended the first phase of COVID-19 vaccination in the country. This is as the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency NPHCDA says it has successfully vaccinated 3,938,945 eligible people across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT,a figure that represents 98 per cent utilisation of the 4,024,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. The Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaib, made this known at a news conference in Abuja. He noted that arrangement is in top gear for commencement of the second phase of the strategic covid-19 Vaccination plan. The NPHCDA Boss was also quick to add that over 14,550 cases of mild/moderate Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI), with 148 cases considered to be severe was recorded during the Vaccination exercise. Meanwhile, the Country Representatives of the World Health Organization and United Nations Children Fund in their remarks warned on the Delta Variant of Covid-19 already detected in some countries. Track up Recall, Nigeria received the first consignment of about 3.92 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on March 2, 2021 through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Assess Facility (COVAX).
