President Mohammadu Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
This was disclosed in a signed statement by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu made available to Channel Network Afrique.
The appointment comes six days after the demise of the late Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru along side 10 military personnels who died in an I’ll fated plane crash in Kaduna on May 21, 2021.
Prior to his appointment Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East code named Operation HADIN KAI.
