The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Identity Management Commission ( NIMC) have urged all Network subscribers to link their Subscribers Identification Module (SIM) to a National Identity Number (NIN) before May 6, 2021.
This is as the commisions warned that any subscriber who fails to link their SIM to a NIN number before the deadline will be blocked .
The development was made known in a joint statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs,NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, and Head of Corporate Communications, NIMC, Kayode Adegoke during the weekend.
Recall that the deadline for the registration, verification, and linkage of the National Identity Number (NIN) to Subscribers Identification Module (SIM) cards was extended to May 6 fem the initial deadline of April 6 2021.
According to the commisions the already registered and verified NINs have exceeded 51 million.
