The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed condolences to the Government and people of Spain following a train crash that claimed more than 68 lives and left many others seriously injured.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria extended its sympathies to the families of those who died in the accident and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
Nigeria also commended emergency responders for their prompt action in providing relief and medical assistance to victims of the tragedy.
The government further praised Spain’s efforts to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and strengthen rail transport safety measures.
According to Oluwafemi Adeniyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria stands in solidarity with Spain during the period of mourning and prays for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, comfort for bereaved families and recovery for the injured.
