The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Retirees Association has pledged its support for the Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, to advance the development and institutional growth of the Board.

The association, comprising retired staff members regarded as senior citizens, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Registrar on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to congratulate him on his leadership and formally introduce the group.

The retirees also expressed their readiness to provide institutional guidance and advisory services to the Board whenever necessary.
Speaking on behalf of the association’s President, Ibrahim Maska Abdulkadir, former Director of Admissions, Mrs. Ann Momoh, commended the Registrar for his various initiatives, particularly his engagement with former registrars and other stakeholders, pursuit of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification, and commitment to staff welfare.
The association also appealed to the Registrar to issue a letter of no objection to facilitate its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Responding, Professor Aina appreciated the retirees for the visit and assured them of the Board’s willingness to draw on their wealth of experience and expertise whenever the need arose.
However, on the request for a letter of no objection, the Registrar stressed the importance of protecting JAMB’s institutional image and reputation, noting that the Board’s activities were subject to the regulatory oversight of the Federal Ministry of Education.
He also expressed concerns about the proposed association’s ability to maintain a unified position among its members in the future, noting that differences of opinion could arise.

The Registrar consequently advised the association to involve its legal team in discussions on the proposed framework to ensure that the necessary considerations were addressed.

Professor Aina clarified that, while he personally identified with the group as an individual, the Board would need to critically examine the association’s proposed framework before taking a position.

He assured the delegation that the Board’s decision on the request would be communicated in due course, following the necessary consultations.
