TCN Has refuted claims by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) that recent power supply reductions in the Federal Capital Territory were caused by a tripping of transmission lines.
In an official statement released by its management, TCN clarified that the drop in AEDC’s power allocation (from approximately 641MW to 314MW) was entirely due to low overall generation on the national grid, rather than any technical fault on its infrastructure.
The response follows a public notice issued by AEDC on August 26, 2026, which attributed current load shedding across its feeders to the alleged tripping of 330kV transmission lines supplying Abuja from the Shiroro Transmission Substation.
TCN labeled the DisCo’s publication as inaccurate and misleading, confirming that all 330kV transmission lines within the Abuja region remain fully operational and in circuit.
