IGP Orders Nationwide Crackdown On Unregistered Vehicles, Deploys DIG’s To Zones.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered an immediate nationwide crackdown on unregistered vehicles and vehicles with concealed or altered number plates, warning that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.

The directive was issued during the monthly conference with strategic senior officers at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the IGP, the increasing number of vehicles operating without registration plates or with deliberately obscured numbers poses a significant threat to public safety.


The Police Chief who also announced the deployment of Deputy Inspectors General of Police to their respective geopolitical zones beginning June 15, 2026,said
the move is aimed at strengthening supervision, improving operational coordination, and enhancing accountability across the country.


On the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, the IGP assured Nigerians that efforts were ongoing to secure their release.
