The Accord Party has condemned the killing of Kolade Eluyera, son of the party’s Woman Leader in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, describing the incident as barbaric and politically motivated.

Kolade was reportedly killed on Friday, May 8, 2026, near Onireke Mosque in Ikire.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbuden, Accord alleged that the deceased was murdered by political thugs in an attempt to silence his mother, who is a prominent party leader in the area.

The party described the killing as devastating, noting that the deceased’s only offence was his membership of the Accord Party and exercise of his constitutional right to freedom of association.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with members of his family, trusting God to console, comfort and strengthen them in this trying time,” the statement read.

Accord called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing and their alleged sponsors, insisting that justice must be served.

The party also urged security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property during the ongoing political season in Osun State.

Accord further accused thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) of harassment of its members and destruction of campaign billboards across the state, while expressing dissatisfaction with the response of security agencies.

The party reaffirmed its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, urging residents of the state to reject violence and embrace issue based politics.

The statement stressed the need for a peaceful, credible and transparent electoral process, while calling on voters to protect their votes during the election.
