The Accord Party has distanced itself from a recent protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja, insisting there is no leadership crisis or faction within its ranks.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbuden, described the protest allegedly led by former presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen, as a “publicity stunt.”

He said Imumolen was expelled from the party in November 2024 over alleged anti party activities, and has no legal backing to claim leadership of the Accord.

The Party also dismissed claims of existing court order recognizing Imumolen as chairman.

Mgbuden stressed that Accord remains united under its current leadership, which emerged from a national convention held in Abuja in July 2024 and monitored by INEC.
The party called on Nigerians to disregard claims of internal crisis and remain confident in its leadership
