Police Bid Farewell To Late Former IGP Solomon Arase
The Nigeria Police Force has held a solemn farewell ceremony in honour of the late former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Solomon Arase, who passed away recently. The ceremony, held in Abuja, featured a Guard of Honour parade as top officers, colleagues, and dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, led tributes at the event, describing Arase as a disciplined and visionary leader who served the Force and the nation with exceptional integrity and commitment.
“Dr. Arase was not only a professional to the core, but also a reformer who repositioned the Nigeria Police Force through intellect, courage, and foresight,” Egbetokun said.
The IGP highlighted Arase’s impactful leadership, which saw major policy reforms aimed at enhancing professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rule of law within the Force.
Also speaking at the event, former Commissioner of Police, Lawrence Alobi, described the late IGP as a man of principle whose legacy would continue to inspire generations of police officers.
“He was a leader who believed in service and built bridges of trust between the police and the people. His death is a great loss to the nation,” Alobi said.
The farewell parade was attended by Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Commissioners of Police, senior officers, and other dignitaries who gathered to honour the life and service of a man many described as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding police chiefs.
The event marked the final phase of official tributes to Dr. Arase, whose contributions to national security and institutional reform left a lasting imprint on the Nigeria Police Force.
