The Caretaker Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha says the party will not field candidates to vie for the forthcoming local council polls in the state scheduled for October 5 2024.
Okocha gave the indication at an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja. Citing a court judgement that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from releasing the voters register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSEIC), Okocha alleged that the planned Rivers council polls are already flawed by the Governor Fubara led state government.
The APC state Chairman as expected also reacted to the political crisis in the oil rich state debunking insinuations that the state chapter of the party was being teleguided by the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
Okocha further cautioned against the planned hunger strike and urged Nigerians to support the efforts of the present administration to tackle the nation’s economic woes.
The Rivers state APC caretaker committee chairman said efforts to reposition the party in the state are already paying off with the APC serving as a credible opposition voice to the PDP led government.
