The first edition of the “I Beg to Differ School Debate series” Organised by the Cool wazobia info group climaxed on Monday June 10, 2024 in Abuja with 13 year old Excel Oma-Benedi, of Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa, Abuja clinching the overall price money having emerged as the winner.
The final of the Abuja edition of the debate tournament with the topic, “Religion has no place in schools” had Excel slog it out with Cindy Paul of Roberto school, Wuse 2 in a captivating showdown for the top position.
Excel however emerged victorious in the competition with a leading score of 38 points while Cindy Paul had 19.2 points.
Both of them commended the initiative saying it will further spur them to achieve greater heights in their academic pursuit. While Excel clinched the price money of 1 million naira and a phone tablet, Cindy got 500,000 naira and a phone tablet.
Speaking on the “I Beg to Differ School Debate tournament, “the Group Programme Director , Cool Wazobia Info, Prince Daniel said the gesture is to advance the course of education in Nigeria.
Analysis by the organisers indicate that the four persons from the Abuja zone that made it to the semi finals and final will meet with other contestants from Port Harcourt and Lagos for the grand finale of the school debate series.
