The Federal Government has indicated plans to remodel the private security guards industry to conform with international standard and best practices Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made this known during a consultative stakeholders meeting on Nigerian Private Guard Industry held in Abuja.
Tunji- Ojo who lamented that Nigeria was yet to tap from the potentials of the industry, despite it’s value to national security and economic development expressed optimism that the engagement will change the narrative. The Minister also made case for major reforms and standardization of the industry.
Meanwhile, the National President, Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Dr Chris Adigwu who spoke with journalists at the sideline of the consultative meeting called for a more proactive measures to regulate the private security industry.
The meeting was attended by Major players in the nations private security industry.
