The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has appealed to security agencies to ensure a hitch-free electioneering Campaigns by political parties ahead of the Edo and Ondo states Governorship election.
Prof Yakubu gave the indication at the second regular quarterly consultative meeting of the Interagency Consultative Committee on Election Security,held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The INEC boss who commended the security agencies for their collaboration in ensuring peaceful elections in the country, urged them to work closely with the commission to ensure the success of both Governorship polls.
Briefing the ICCES members on preparations for the continuous voters registration exercise in both states, Prof Yakubu made case for protection of registrants, Personnel and equipment that would be deployed for the exercise.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National security Adviser, Inspector General of Police and other security agencies involved in the nations election management process.
