The Federal Government of Nigeria has added its voice to calls by other Members of the International Community on Iran and Israel to sheath their swords by exercising restraint.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisca Omayuli and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA.
There has been serious anxiety
in the region after the recent attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, the Syrian capital that killed seven officials including a top Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander.
According to the statement, diplomatic efforts are ongoing to ease tension and avoid a wider conflict in the Middle East.
The statement however, noted that, at this critical period, it behoves the two countries to reflect on the universal commitment to peaceful resolution of conflicts, for the advancement of global peace and security.
