Fight Against Corruption: Faith Based Group Trains Over 2000 Church Leaders.

The General Overseer of Palace of Priest Assembly, Pastor Otive Igbuzor, says over 2000 religious leaders have been trained to shun, speak up and stand up against corruption in the phase 2 of the SHUN Project funded by John and Catherine MacArthur Foundation.

Speaking at the capacity building workshop on Consolidating anti corruption platforms held in Abuja,the cleric said training is inline with the goal of the project to mobilise Christians to join the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Otive who said corruption poses significant challenges to economic development, social justice and stability,noted that the project seeks to initiate reforms that will bring about changing behaviours regarding accountability within and outside the church.

The cleric further highlighted some of the gains recorded in phase 1 and 2 of the SHUN project and it’s implications regarding changing the narrative of corruption in Nigeria.

Other speakers in their remarks commended the Project, recommending it as a viable platform to win the fight against corruption.

Key among several gains recorded in the second phase of the SHUN project presently implemented in 26 states of Nigeria includes the discovery of about 115 scriptures in the holy book that captures the meaning of corruption and the imperative to adhere to the standards of honesty, integrity and transparency expected of Christians.
