The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) says it has approved the sum of 130 million naira as zonal intervention for each polytechnics in its 2023 intervention line.
The Director of Infrastructure, TETFund, Malam Buhari Mika’Ilu gave the indication at the TETFund/NBTE Sensitisation Workshop on the 2023 Zonal Intervention on Skills for Rectors and Directors of Skills in Beneficiary Polytechnics in Abuja.
He said the intervention is geared towards reinvigorating skills acquisition in polytechnics across the country as well as consolidate the efforts of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in increasing the capacities of the institutions to deliver on their mandate.
The director further revealed that over 52 billion naira has been allocated to enlisted polytechnics since the inception of the zonal intervention initiative in 2016.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono in his remarks, charged rectors of polytechnics to explore the innovative approaches to skills development and as well device effective solutions that would enhance the quality and relevance of technical education in the institutions.
The Fund is priotising this year’s Zonal Allocation to polytechnics as part of efforts to reinvigorate skills acquisition in the sub sector across the country.
