Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for introducing innovations for the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
Ayim gave the indication The former at the 2022 Annual Political Parties Summit organised by Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Abuja.
He said the deployment of technology for the conduct of thebpolll will help to check challenges that have bedeviled the credibility of past elections and also the outcome of the poll reflects the wishes of Nigerians.
He however suggested that INEC subject the BVAS to a third party evaluation to further ensure the technology cannot be manipulated.
The summit as expected attracted key political stakeholders including the Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma who in his remarks called on Nigerians to ensure political actors play by the rules as established in the electoral act.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC , Alhaji Yagbagi Sani on his part said the summit was to ensure the conduct of free fair and credible election in the country next year.
The theme of the one day summit is ‘Political Parties, Elections and the Consolidation of Democracy: Emerging Issues and Needed Intervention in Nigeria’. “
