The Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba says arrangements has been concluded for the establishment of more Free Trade Zones across the country.
He disclosed this when the Ekiti State Governor, Abayomi Oyebanji paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. Prof. Adesugba said the decision was borne out of the need to stimulate the nation’s economy.
He added that Economic Free Zones are vital to both the states and National Economic development as such would be very pertinent for State Governments to toe the line of the Ekiti State Government in keying into the scheme in order to fast-track the ongoing economic diversification agenda of the APC led administration.
The Governor, Ekiti State, Abayomi Oyebanji, earlier, solicited NEPZA’s technical support on the smooth and professional operation of the State’s Knowledge Zone.
He said the Ekiti State Knowledge Zone which is being used as a technology hub to drive innovation for industrialization and economic development of the State was established to translate knowledge to wealth as well as ensure job creation, most especially for the youths.
The Governor further explained that necessary infrastructure and adequate security has been put in place in the Zone as the State is collaborating with other relevant stakeholders and agencies in making it a vibrant income earner for Ekiti State.
