The Federal Housing Authority is a creation of decree 40 of 1973 with the sole responsibility of preparing and submission to government, proposals for National Housing Programmes among others. Over the years, the mission and mandate of the agency has been reviewed by successive governments with the aim of meeting the housing needs of the populace. However, such efforts are yet to be felt. At a meeting to submit the agency’s first annual report to the minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola in Abuja, the Board Chairman Senator Lawal Shuaibu itemised major impediments to the FHA mandate.
