2023: Tinubu Absent As Presidential Candidates Sign Peace Accord.

As campaigns officially commence for 2023 general elections, presidential candidates have signed a peace accord, committing to peaceful campaigns and rallies across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Muhammadu Buhari who spoke through a video message reiterated his administration commitment to a peaceful and transparent electioneering Process.

President Buhari who expressed worry over the trend of fake news and misinformation as it affects the conduct of credible elections urged the 18 political parties to ensure their campaigns conform with the standard as established by law.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu who commended the National Peace Accord for it role in the improvement of elections in Nigeria noted that the commission will vigorously monitor campaign compliance .

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the National Peace Accord Chairman, Abdulsalami Abubakar urged the political parties to shun all forms of election malpractices.

The National Peace Accord conceptualized in 2014 is aimed at contributing to the conduct of a smooth and peaceful election devoid of any breakdown of law and order, before, during and after the electioneering process.
