The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offences Commission, ICPC has inaugurated the Nigerian Export Promotion Council code named NEPC – Anti-Corruption Transparency Unit, ACTU Executives with the aim of fighting corruption in the public service.
Speaking at the Inauguration ceremony held at the NEPC headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Director, NEPC, Ezra Yakusak noted that corruption posses a serious development challenge in Nigeria and that it threatens sustainable administrative and economic development by undermining formal processes which destabilizes public confidence in Government Affairs.
Yakusak who stated that the scourge of corruption needs to be curbed in the public service urged the newly inaugurated NEPC – ACTU members to put all hands on deck to fight the menace.
In his remarks, the ICPC chairman, Prof, Bolaji Owasanoye said the diligence of AcTU in the discharge of it’s duties has made the NEPC emerge third position in the deployment of the 2021 result of the ICPC Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard with a substantial compliance score of 87.7 out of the 301 MDA’s.
Represented by the Director, System, Study Review, ICPC, Abia Udofia, the ICPC boss urged the Executives to discharge their duties diligently and with integrity while soliciting the support of the NEPC to the ACTU Executives.
The ACTU Chairman who expressed gratitude to the Commission assured of readiness to deliver on the mandate given to them.
The Commission also called for continuous training and retraining of the NEPC – ACTU assuring of commitment to continue to partner with the ICPC in the fight against Corruption.
