The Nigeria Defence Headquarters has restated its commitment to intensify onslaughts against Terrorists, Bandits and other criminal elements to restore peace and normalcy across the country. Defence spokesman, Brig General Bernard Onyeuko disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja while giving update on various troops engagement across the country from 30th June to 14th July, 2022.
He said Six top terrorist commanders surrendered to troops of HADIN KAI in Gwoza, Local government of Borno state. According to Onyeuko, 3,858 Boko Haram terrorist and their families surrendered as the theater troops neutralized several Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa province terrorists. Also, the Northwest and Northcentral theater operations were also captures in the briefing as General Onyeuko reeled out various troops interventions that aided the killing of terrorists,bandits and recovery of arms and ammunition,rustled cattles among others.
He also said, 9 kidnapped victims were rescued by troops as the criminals were arrested in Dogon Filli village of Jama’a local government of Kaduna State within the period under review. The Defence Spokesman further said, 24 economic saboteurs were arrested and 109 illegal refining sites were destroyed in the Niger Delta, in the South South Zone, 61, 25 litres Jericans of Premium motor spirit, and 2 vehicles loaded with 163 kilograms of Foreign rice were recovered by the troops in South west zone.
General Onyeuko however, solicited more intelligence cooperation on activities of criminal elements from the members of the public.
