With only 15 days to the Ekiti Governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC says it has implemented major activities required for the smooth conduct of the poll.
The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Prof Mahmood Yabuku disclosed this at a special meeting of the Inter agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) in Abuja, to review security arrangements for the Ekiti Governorship election.
Prof Yakubu, who noted that his recent visit to the south west state indicates the commissions readiness to conduct the Governorship election said plans are been concluded for the peace Accord meeting where the candidates and political parties will be expected to commit themselves to a hitch free Electoral contest.
The INEC boss further disclosed that the long awaited Regulations and Guidelines for the conduct of elections is out and will be made available to Nigerians. He further gave update on the Continuous Voter Registration. Meanwhile, the National security Adviser, Retired General Babagana Mangunu, represented by Sanusi Galadima urged all ICCES members to brest off and be fully prepared to ensure that acts capable of undermining the smooth conduct of the Ekiti Governorship election are forstalled.
The highpoint of the meeting was the unveiling of the Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of elections 2022 by the inec leadership led by the Chairman,prof Mahmood Yakubu.
