As political parties commence preparation for primaries ahead of the 2023 general elections, the All Progressive Grand Alliance seems to be heading for another round of internal crisis. This is as the faction loyal to the Chief Edozie Njoku is seeking recognition of the Independent National Electoral Commission as the authentic Leadership of the Party.
Recall, the Supreme Court in october 2021 upheld the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Kano Division which affirmed Victor Oye as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA).
The apex court went further to recognized the primary conducted by the Oye leadership that produced the Governor of Anambra State Chukwuma Soludo. However, relying on relevant session of the ruling, the National working Committee of the Njoku led APGA faction at it’s meeting in Abuja cited several provisions authorizing their activities.
Reading the outcome of the NWC meeting, National Administrative Secretary of the faction, Okoro Chinedum said a vote of confidence was passed on Chief Njoku for his reconciliatory leadership style. The faction further set up an adhoc committee with mandate to formulate strategies that will help the party sweep the 2023 general elections across the country.
