The Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, says it will commence implementation of its 10-year Universal Basic Education Roadmap, covering 2026 to 2035, in the first week of October.
UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, disclosed this in Abuja at a two-day consultative workshop with chairmen of the 36 State Universal Basic Education Boards, SUBEBs, and UBEC directors.
Garba said the roadmap is designed to move basic education planning away from isolated infrastructure projects and towards a more comprehensive approach that addresses the broader needs of schools.
The UBEC boss also unveiled the Basic Education Action Plan Management System, BEAPMS, a digital platform aimed at improving planning, transparency and monitoring of basic education projects nationwide.
Also speaking, the Dean of SUBEB Chairmen, Professor Shehu Adaramaja, said the consultation would help stakeholders establish a common direction for the delivery of basic education over the next decade.
Participants at the meeting are expected to review and validate the proposed roadmap, drawing on their technical expertise and experience in implementing basic education programmes across the states.
