TUC Urges FG To Increase Security Funding, Intensify Fight Against Insecurity

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, has called on the Federal Government to increase funding for security operations and intensify efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.

TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo, made the call in Abuja while speaking at the Congress’s National Administrative Council meeting.

While commending security agencies for recent efforts to combat insecurity, including the arrest and conviction of suspected terrorists and kidnappers, Osifo called for these efforts to be intensified.


The TUC President also called for accountability over the incident that led to the death of about 37 miners while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State.

On the economy, Osifo acknowledged signs of improvement in inflation and the foreign exchange market, but said the naira remains undervalued.

The TUC President-General also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure that preparations for the 2027 general elections are transparent, inclusive and credible.
