Nigerian troops have arrested several suspected terrorist logistics suppliers, informants and spies across the North East as intensified military operations continue to disrupt insurgent networks and weaken terrorist activities in the region.
The arrests were recorded during operations conducted between 31 August and 3 September 2026 under Operation Hadin Kai in Borno and Yobe states.
In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA, the suspects were apprehended as troops sustained pressure on terrorist groups through offensive operations, raids and intelligence-driven missions across the theatre.
According to him, security forces also intercepted an escapee from terrorist captivity in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
General Onoja disclosed that troops engaged terrorists at various locations in Borno and Yobe states, neutralising fighters and recovering weapons and ammunition.
He added that the increased military pressure contributed to the surrender of 21 women and children in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, who reportedly fled following clashes among rival terrorist factions.
Beyond the North East, troops conducted operations against terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements across several parts of the country.
In the North West, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma killed two terrorist kingpins during a raid in Katsina State and intercepted a vehicle carrying 793 rounds of ammunition concealed in a sack of grain in Kaduna State.
The statement said soldiers also recovered a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, rifles and ammunition during an ambush operation in Zamfara State.
Military operations in the region led to the rescue of 31 abducted civilians, including six victims in Kebbi State, 23 captives in Zamfara State and two others in Katsina State.
Troops also destroyed a terrorist camp in Bilange Forest, Sokoto State, recovering military uniforms, identification cards and a rifle.
Elsewhere, troops under Operation Whirl Stroke neutralised a suspected terrorist and rescued two kidnapped women in Kogi State, while other operations led to the arrest of criminal suspects in Taraba State.
Security personnel also rescued five kidnapped farmers in Niger State and apprehended a suspected terrorist fighter in Kwara State.
In the South East, Operation Udo Ka troops arrested suspects accused of supporting secessionist elements and individuals allegedly linked to attacks on security agencies.
The military said the latest arrests and other operational successes reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks, cut off logistics channels and strengthen security across the country.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, commended troops for their efforts and urged citizens to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
