The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for what it described as significant progress in the fight against terrorism, citing the elimination of more than 13,000 terrorists and other violent criminals over the past year.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group said the achievements underscore the administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and prosecuting the war against terrorism.

According to the statement, President Tinubu recently disclosed that sustained military operations had led to an 81 per cent decline in terrorism related deaths since 2023.

The group also noted that about 17,000 suspected terrorists had been arrested during the period under review.

TMV attributed the successes to improved funding, better equipment for the military, and enhanced troop morale. It added that Nigerian security forces had strengthened operational capacity by transitioning from training exercises with allies, including the United States, France and other European countries, to coordinated joint operations against terrorist groups.

The volunteers further commended the reported surrender of more than 124,000 insurgents and their dependants through Operation Safe Corridor since 2023, describing it as a major milestone in the government’s counter insurgency efforts. The figure, it said, was confirmed by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

According to the group, the Federal Government has continued to provide an opportunity for terrorists to surrender, warning that those who fail to take advantage of the initiative would face the full weight of the law.

TMV also praised the Nigerian Army for rescuing 337 kidnap victims and recovering 4,105 rustled cattle during operations in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states.

It said the successes recorded by the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), and other military formations were made possible through strategic support and effective operational guidance.

The group further said that the Tinubu administration’s proactive approach, including greater reliance on technology and intelligence gathering, had strengthened Nigeria’s campaign against terrorism and other forms of violent crime.
