TCN Announces 6-Hour Power Outage In Abuja, Niger

Parts of Abuja and Niger State are expected to experience a six hour power disruption on Tuesday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out its annual maintenance exercise at the 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation.

According to TCN, the maintenance will take place from 10:00am to 4:00pm and is aimed at carrying out preventive maintenance on the 132kV Katampe–Gwarinpa Transmission Line 1 bay switchgear and associated equipment.

The exercise will affect electricity supply to parts of Dawaki, Dutse Alhaji, Gwarinpa and environs, as well as parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, Jiwa and environs.

Other affected areas include Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and surrounding communities.

TCN said the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to off take electricity to customers in the affected areas during the maintenance period.

The transmission company apologised to electricity customers for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption.
