The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a five hour power outage in Bida and several surrounding communities in Niger State as it carries out annual preventive maintenance on its 132/33kV transmission substation.
According to a statement issued by TCN on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the maintenance exercise will take place from 8am to 1pm at the Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
TCN said its maintenance crew will work on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and associated switchgear during the exercise.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to customers in Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost and Masaga, as well as surrounding villages.
TCN said electricity supply to the affected communities will be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
The transmission company apologised to electricity customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance.
