The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim in Delta State and arrested several suspected criminals while recovering firearms, stolen property and other exhibits in coordinated operations across nine states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The rescue of the victim, identified as Nduka Omoyi, followed a geo spatial intelligence operation that led Police operatives, working with forest guards and local personnel, to a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Alisime Village in Delta State.
The Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a state by state executive summary of the Force’s operational successes for September 6, 2026.
According to the Police, operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun duel after locating their hideout, forcing the abductors to flee into the bush with gunshot wounds.
Omoyi was subsequently rescued unharmed, while the operatives recovered one mobile phone and an ATM card during the operation.
The Police also reported significant operational successes in Nasarawa, Zamfara, Kwara, Abia, Oyo, Taraba, Enugu and the FCT, including the arrest of suspected armed robbers, bandits, vandals and other alleged criminals.
In Nasarawa State, Police operatives intercepted fleeing armed robbery suspects following a robbery at Uluji Village, Keana Local Government Area. A gun duel ensued, during which two suspects were neutralised while another escaped.
A pump action rifle and the motorcycle reportedly stolen during the robbery were recovered.
Another suspect, identified as Isaac Michael, was subsequently arrested over his alleged involvement in the incident.
In Zamfara State, Police tactical teams, supported by local vigilantes, engaged armed bandits who had reportedly blocked the Kwanar Shado–Malele Road.
The confrontation forced the bandits to retreat into the forest with gunshot wounds, while intensive bush combing and manhunt operations continued to locate the fleeing suspects.
In Kwara State, two suspected bandits, Abubakar Umar, 25, and Umar Ayuba, 25, were arrested following intelligence led operations. Police recovered ₦770,000, two Infinix smartphones, a locally made bulletproof vest, a power bank and other exhibits.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to military authorities for further questioning over their alleged involvement in a recent attack in Niger State.
Also in Kwara, Police arrested Afolabi Ayomide, 25, after he was allegedly found threatening people with a firearm at Avalon Hotel, Offa. A locally made Beretta pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition was recovered from him.
In Abia State, Police arrested Ogbonnaya Mba over an alleged threat to life involving a firearm. A search of his residence resulted in the recovery of a pump action gun and an AK-47 rifle magazine, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend his fleeing accomplice.
The Oyo State Police Command also arrested seven suspects over an alleged assault on two members of a local vigilante group at Agate Mining Camp, Komu.
The victims were rescued and taken to General Hospital, Komu, for medical treatment, while a manhunt continued for other suspects who fled the scene.
In Taraba State, Police arrested two suspected pipeline vandals, including an alleged receiver and vandal, during an operation targeting the processing and transportation of vandalised NNPCL pipes.
The operation led to the recovery of eight long vandalised pipes, two gas cylinders and 55 bags of cassava, which the suspects allegedly used to conceal the pipes during transportation.
The Police said the suspects made confessional statements that were assisting investigators in identifying other fleeing accomplices.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested Jude Tar, 27, in connection with a reported armed robbery and rape incident at Pegi.
The suspect is assisting investigators in efforts to identify and apprehend other alleged accomplices.
The FCT Command also arrested four suspects allegedly caught vandalising street solar lights around the National Mosque area. A vandalised solar street light and pole were recovered.
In another operation in Delta State, Police arrested 10 suspects during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Kes Valley Brothel, Abbi, following credible intelligence.
The operatives recovered suspected illicit substances, including Tramadol, Swinnol, Canadian Loud and Indian Hemp.
Delta Police also recovered two locally made firearms in separate incidents. A cut to size firearm was allegedly abandoned by suspected hoodlums who fled following a disturbance along Ibori Road, Oghara, while another locally made shotgun was recovered after suspected armed robbers abandoned it during an incident at Effurun.
Three additional suspects were arrested following an attack on Police officers conducting an investigation at Ekiugbo Scrap Market, with two motorcycles also recovered.
In Enugu State, three suspects were arrested over the alleged vandalisation and theft of government infrastructure at Umueze, Nkanu West Local Government Area.
Stolen iron pans and street lights were recovered during the operation.
The Police Force said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing, with the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments handling the cases.
