Commander, 115 Special Operations Group, Nigerian Air Force and Air Components of Operation Delta Safe, Group Captain, Abduhafeez Opaleye says it’s erroneous to assume that the force lacks the requisite equipment to carryout night operations on illegal refining sites, criminals and vandals’ enclaves in the hinterland and creeks as the strikes are more accurate and precise at night.
He disclosed this to Defence Correspondents in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a tour of Operation Delta Safe area of responsibility sponsored by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
Group Captain Abduhafeez while highlighting strides recorded which include the destruction of 49 illegal cooking tanks, 20 reservoirs, drums used for the storage of stolen crude, refined oil products and 16 boats between January and May 2025 said perpetrators of the dastardly act detest night operations due to the deadly airstrikes and efficient night patrols by his well-trained officers and men.
He also spoke of areas of concerns that need to be strengthened to enhance their operational performance.
High point of the tour was the visit of hangers where various fighter helicopters were kept and maintained in preparation for their next national assignments.
